Gathered around a maquette of the proposed new statue of the playwright, on Wednesday 26 April, twelve members of CCS and their friends spent a highly enjoyable evening reading Christopher Marlowe’s Dr Faustus. The drama, enlivened by some powerful reading and a variety of accents (some more successful than others) raised a variety of questions, theological and theatrical, and led to a request for another Marlowe reading in the autumn. On 31 May, the CCS readers will tackle another much neglected work by Aphra Behn: The Rover, Part II. To participate please email chair@cantcommsoc.co.uk
