While our Society is dedicated to the commemoration, preservation and celebration of the rich heritage of Canterbury and the surrounding area, we decry the destruction of heritage sites anywhere in the world, whether it be the Buddhas of Bamyan, the temples of Palmyra or the vandalism currently taking place in Ukraine. We stand against those who cause suffering, pain and the deaths of innocent civilians. In the name of liberty and our shared humanity, we strongly urge the Russian forces to withdraw from Ukraine immediately.
