On Wednesday 31 May, the intrepid Aphra Behn readers chuckled and snorted their way through a cut version Aphra’s bawdily complex drama, The Rover Part II. Commissioned by James Duke of York and written in great haste, the play is another showcase for Aphra’s famously intelligent, tough and uninhibited women – modelled, no doubt, on the playwright herself.
