The CCS reading group, boosted by lively newcomers Joanna Williams and Darren Old, celebrated the combination of Aphra Behn and All Fools Day with a rollicking reading of the splendid 1678 comedy Sir Patient Fancy. The play, trimmed of some of the excess verbiage of the time, was so enjoyable that there were calls for it to be staged. Any takers? Next reading is something completely different: Somerset Maugham’s Sheppey.
