The CCS 2024-25 season ended on Wednesday 2 July with a brief, well-attended AGM, presided over by President Paul Roberts, and a splendid presentation by Jane Jones on ‘Mary Moders, the Crafty Whore of Canterbury’. Jane’s skilful blend of drama and history, spiced with music, held the audience spellbound. It also provoked a fascinating question: Aphra Behn and Mary Moders, two near contemporary Canterbury girls who took the world by storm … what was it about the city that bred such feisty fighters?
