FEISTY WOMEN TO THE FORE!

The Society ended its busy 2025 programme with a very lively and well-attended talk by Councillor Connie Nolan on the Feisty Women of Canterbury. Focussing on Queen Bertha, the Frankish early Christian, and the celebrated bigamist Mary Moders, Connie mingled history, anecdote and personal asides in a delightful pot pourri of the naughty and the nice. At times her relaxed style had the audience roaring with laughter. The party atmosphere continued long after the talk had ended as the audience chatted at the donations bar and enjoyed a delicious buffet prepared by Trustee Gillian Rushton. As always, other trustees gave freely of their time and geniality to ensure the evening was a happy success. As the public meeting was the last such that the Society will be holding in St Peter’s Anglican Church, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all those connected with the ancient building for their kind help and support over the past five years.
