Nicholas Faunt probably has the dubious distinction of being the only mayor in England executed in his own market square.

Sheila’s fascinating talk will explore Faunt’s career in later 15th-century Canterbury to uncover how and why this ardent supporter of the Earl of Warwick, Edward IV’s right-hand man in the 1460s, came to a grisly end only a few years later – presumably watched by his fellow members of the city’s corporation and King Edward IV himself!

The event will follow the CCS AGM.
