Aphra Behn, Nell Gwynn & Christmas

On 15 December, the Society met at St Peter’s church for a fascinating talk by Nicholas Reed on Nell Gwynn and Aphra Behn, two women from the Provinces who made their name in the London theatre in the reign of Charles II. Nell was from Hereford and became an actor (and more!); Aphra was from Canterbury and wrote several highly successful plays. After the talk, members enjoyed a convivial party. The Society wishes everyone a Merry Christmas!
