Our first talk of 2026, held on Thursday 23 April in our new venue, St Paul’s Without the Walls, was a resounding success. Dr John Bulaitis’ excellent talk on the Swing Riots of 1830 to only attracted an audience of around 60, but convinced committee members present that a memorial to the dreadfully mistreated rioters, many of whom were tried and sentenced in Canterbury, should immediately be added to the Society’s list of priority projects.
