Some sixty guests enjoyed an idyllic summer evening at the CCS Summer Fundraising Party on Friday 26 June. The setting in St Augustine’s Abbey (courtesy of Historic England) was perfect, Brian McHenry’s tour of the Abbey was as fascinating as ever, the drama from the Canterbury Shakespeare Festival was most entertaining, Evelyn Cornell’s music was enrapturing, the Pimms deliciously refreshing, and Blackbird’s chubby pig, a heaving cheese board and lashings of ice cream ensured everyone went home with a smile on their face – even if their pockets were a little lighter. The Society extends its most sincere thanks to all who participated in one way or another to this most enjoyable event.
