An open public reading of Aphra Behn’s smash hit comedy of 1678.
The names of the characters – Sir Patient Fancy and his young wife Lucia, the rake Wittmore, Lady Knowell and Sir Credulous Easy – hint at the spicy themes running through this delicious farce written by our first professional female playwright in her prime.
The reading is another exciting opportunity further to explore Canterbury’s rich dramatic heritage.
Wednesday 1 April 2026, 7.00 pm, Friends’ Meeting House, the Friars, Canterbury.
Entry £3.00 to meet the cost of the venue. Please book online through Eventbrite. An edited script will be sent to all who book.
